This technical memorandum summarizes the results of phase 1 of the Spacecraft Autoland Project. The vehicle, its design, and control concepts are described. Steps leading toward the final flight demonstration are detailed. The flights results, the lessons learned, and a sample of flight data are given. In addition, the results of a novel postflight study which used data from the flights to compute wind velocities using two estimations techniques are shown.
