This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Workshop on the Emergence and Evolution of Linguistic Communication, EELC 2006, held in Rome, Italy, in September/October 2006.
The 12 revised full papers presented together with 5 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers focus on the evolution and emergence of language - a fast growing interdisciplinary research area touching such different disciplines as anthropology, linguistics, psychology, primatology, neuroscience, cognitive science and computer science. Some papers deal with language acquisition - both from a psychological and an AI point of view - gaining insights regarding language evolution.
