A collection of essays focusing on comparative mythology, which have appeared in various journals, most out of print, over the past 15 years. The essays provide a picture of the history and development of comparative research into Finno-Ugric mythology and of its state at the end of the 20th century. Common to these writings is a consistent semiotic approach which can be used in the description of mythological and belief systems. The book is distributed by ISBS. The author is a senior research fellow at the Institute of Ethnology at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and director of the European Folklore Institute.
