Providing you are not living with a violent psychopath, the most potential danger lies out on the streets away from the safety of your home. Survival on the street may, as a worst case scenario, require you to fight for your life and survive without injury, but a better option is to avoid a fight. Equally important, is the development of total awareness of your surroundings. Should you be attacked, however, you must know how to end the encounter instantly by ensuring your attacker is incapable of continuing his assault.
The two greatest dangers on the street are:
1) Being unaware of who and what is around you, and
2) Being the target of a "surprise attack"
Even superior fighters are often defeated on the street because of a “surprise attack”. If you are suddenly knocked unconscious or abducted with no forewarning, you have no control over what will happen to you.
This book, Self Defense on the Street, the 2nd book in the Deadly Attack Survival (DAS) series, is specifically designed to teach you how to avoid being attacked on the street, but if you are, how to cope with a surprise attack. Perhaps this book should have been entitled “Street Survival” or “Street Smarts” because that is exactly what you will learn. Self protection on the street may mean coping with two or even three attackers. You must learn to protect yourself when confronted with multiple attackers...you may have no choice if you want to survive.
Most important of all, however, is to recognize signs of potential danger when away from home or in unfamiliar surroundings. Avoiding danger is always better than dealing with it. To accomplish this, you must develop the ability to be aware of who and what is around you. This book will teach you how to do this; an ability that was within all us when we were hunter-gatherers prior to the advent of civilization but has been lost. It is important that you regain this ability.
