Enormous advances in propulsion performance and efficiency have made it possible for aircraft to travel at higher speeds over longer ranges while carrying larger payloads. This has increased capacity by orders of magnitude since the advent of air travel. The FAA and commercial sectors are forecasting another dramatic growth in commercial air transportation in the next 10 to 25 years. Commercial air transportation will again seek and rely on advanced propulsion solutions to meet this ever-increasing
public demand.
