Pannini, 1974. — 33 c.
The second edition of Panini's World Cup Sticker album came out in time for the 1974 Germany World Cup. The style and appearance of the Panini Munich 74 World Cup Germany Sticker Album is very close to that of the last edition in 1970.
Similar to last time, the first page shows stickers for the FIFA Logo, the new World Cup Trophy (last time's winners Brazil got to keep the Rimet Cup), the Official Poster, Official Logo and the Mascots. The Mascots are of a short dumpy chap and a tall thin feller; they remind us a little of Laurel and Hardy! Over the page there is a large photograph of the Rimet Cup and a couple of paragraphs about it, facing on the other page is an introduction to Jules Rimet, who had been FIFA president for 26 years. From here, the next 8 pages look back at previous tournaments, stickers include a the tournament logo, winning team photo and several photo stickers of important players. The final page of this section features a large photo of the new World Cup Trophy.
'Tip and Tap' or 'Laurel and Hardy' as we'd rather refer to the tournament mascots, get a whole page of them playing football, 9 stickers in total there, then the stadiums are over the page. Each gets a sticker, brief intro and space to fill in some scores.
Germany as the hosts get the first national team page. The club badge is the first sticker to appear, still not yet in it's eventual 'foil' style though. There is also a manager sticker, team photo sticker and national mascot. Most teams are allocated a double spread with 14 football sticker spaces, however some teams only get one page, such as Australia and Haiti.
