The good: I read this book because I've always had an interest in computational holography, but have no background in optics apart from what I picked up in a college Physics course. The first couple of chapters were a good enough introduction to Fourier optics that I was able to follow along, even with my limited background. The examples in the book are clear and straightforward, and work in FreeMat with minimal modification. The bad: The last chapter really feels tacked-on, and doesn't contain as much useful information as the previous chapters. Also, the book is fairly short considering its cover price; I wouldn't recommend buying it new, because its scope really doesn't justify the price.
