Nickel and the Skin: Absorption, Immunology, Epidemiology, and Metallurgy (Dermatology, Clinical and Basic Science)

Allergic contact dermatitis from nickel is a continuing health problem and its prevalence is increasing. It may occur in sensitized individuals following contact with nickel-containing items such as jewelry, zippers, buttons, and other objects; by nickel leaching from implants and prostheses; and following occupational exposures. Nickel and the Skin gives an extensive, updated review of new aspects, as well as previously discussed topics, covering material progress in the field of nickel hypersensitivity. It complements the mandate of the Nickel Producers Environmental Research Association, which is to promote the health and safety of those exposed to nickel or nickel containing products in the workplace and general environment.
