Recent scientific efforts have provided unequivocal evidence for mitochondrial genome mutations and content changes in cancer development, progression, and therapy. This pioneering book is a unique compilation of mitochondrial genome alterations in cancer. While primarily focused on the emerging role of mitochondrial genome changes, bioenergetics and signaling pathways, attention is also given to the metabolic transformations of the cancer cell, as well as the established altered cell death processes that underlie cancer evolution and treatment resistance.
