(Либ Роберт Дж. Механические реакции и морфологическое описание артиллерийских порохов)
- Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD: U.S. Army Research Laboratory. 1996. – 42 р.
The mechanical and morphological characterization of energetic materials (gun propellants in particular) has been progressing steadily for many decades. Progress has accelerated in the last 5 years, and several principal goals have been attained. This report outlines the objectives and methods of mechanical and morphological characterization of gun propellants, provides general characterization results for the four basic propellant types, and lists references to more detailed information. Fracture failure characterization is also addressed, and the methods for determining fracture-generated surface area are presented, along with results for the two most friable propellant types. The importance of morphological information is discussed, and an example of how the information can be used is provided.
