These lectures cover the generation and spread of electromagnetic fields. The wave equation and its solutions are derived from Maxwell's equations. Further topics are: fields in free space, refraction and reflection at boundary surfaces, dipole radiation, Green's functions, vector and scalar potentials, as well as light transformations. In order to understand the diffraction and scattering of waves, the field angular spectrum is derived and the transition to Fourier optics is discussed. Also discussed are guided waves and resonators. Last updated: February 2013 From: https://www.photonics.ethz.ch/en/our-range/education/courses/electromagnetic-fields-and-waves.html
