EIGA 2007. - p. 42.
IGC Doc 75/07/E.
Revision of Doc 75/01/rev.
This document establishes for the first time the basic principles to calculate appropriate safety
distances for the industrial gas industry. It is intended that future EIGA working groups use this
document as an aid to writing or revising any codes of practice which involve specifying separation
distances for safe equipment layout. This will ensure a consistent and technically sound approach in
future work. It is recommended that a process safety specialist is co-opted as a member of these
working groups to perform the risk and consequence calculations described in this note. Although
computer models and example calculations are given, it is expected that future improvements in near field dispersion modelling and failure rate data would be used by the specialist.
