An experimental study on pressure evolution during the deflagrative explosions of propane–air mixtures in a cylindrical vessel (Φ = 10 cm; h = 15 cm) with central ignition was performed at various initial propane concentrations (between 2.60 and 5.70%, vol.), initial pressures (between 0.3 and 1.3 bar) and ambient initial temperature. The influence of initial pressure and fuel concentration on explosion pressures, explosion times and maximum rates of pressure rise is
discussed. The experimental values of maximum explosion pressures are compared to literature values and to the adiabatic explosion pressures.
