First Published in 1968. This title compiles the memoirs of General Manstein starting from the year 1770 in which the publication was produced under the auspices of the celebrated historian, David Hume. Within, the author expressly confines himself to treating of events which happened while he was in the country. He added a supplement containing a sketch of the internal progress of Russia from the time of Peter I to the period comprehended in the Memoirs. An outline of the author's life is included as a guide to the opportunities which he possessed for acquiring information on the topics he handled.
