Australian slang utilises humour, wit, rhymes, bizarre experiences from the bush to the beach, familiar and personal to portray how experiences shape language and identity. For example, 'have a burl' at something is similar to 'have a crack', and both phrases reflect a history of Australian improvisation and hard work as part of working in the bush. Please note that some of the words and expressions in Aussie Slang Down Under may cause offence. It is not recommended to use such words and expressions, but they have been included as Aussie Slang Down Under is a book about the use of language whether it be good or bad.
