I got "Atlas of the Messier Objects - Highlights of the Deep Sky" by Ronald Stoyan this week. It is a well designed large format book that covers eack of the 110 Messier Objects in detail. There are also sections of Charles Messier's life, the telescopes he used, the history of his catalog et cetera. This book would not be very useful in locating the Messier Objects, but it is great if you want to know what the objects are, their history and so on. There are also observing tips, drawings and photos of each object and (best of all) historical drawings of many of the objects by Messier, Herschel and others.
