Another Last Word

Another Last Word is a commentary on East Africa's cultural and literary scene. Echoing Taban's earlier volume The Last Word, this collection of essays and articles laments the failure of the cultures of East Africa to assert themselves as aggressively as they should; and challenges the states of East Africa to catapult themselves into the modern age and aim for cultural, economic, and political leadership. This collection is a products of the 1960's and 70's, a period nostalgically regarded by many as East Africa's Golden Age. And this style is as Tabanic as ever it could be: militant, provocative, witty, and profoundly thoughtful.
