Nowadays we often see a sticker Gently! on a box of glass, so it’s not surprising that we forget about extreme fragility of such things as beauty and freedom.
John Fowles’s first published novel The Collector reveals the theme of a thin line between beauty and deformity, freedom and enslavement.
The fragment taken from the second part of the book gives us Frederick Clegg’s portrayal from Miranda Grey’s point of view. And it’s styled as a diary excerpt.
