This publication is the outcome of the Symposium, entitled 'Archaeometallurgy of Iron: Results Aohieved 1967-1997', which was held last year at Liblice, near Prague. The majority of those who participated have delivered their contributions to the Editor, and only four are missing. In the interests of consistency, minor adaptations have been made to some manuscripts, but the contributions are essentially unchanged.
In the original publication the Plates and Captions to the Plates were printed at the end of the volume, from pages 487 ff. In this version the Plates and Captions have been re-organised so that they appear at the end of the relevant papers.
