Agricultural meteorology is an applied science concerned with the interactions between meteorological and hydrological factors, on the one hand, and agriculture in the widest sense, including horticulture, animal husbandry and forestry, on the other. Specialists engaged in these various disciplines should have access to a glossary of agrometeorological terminology understandable not only to the practising agrometeorologists but also to field workers, researchers, students and specialists in related areas. The present Glossary of Agrometeorology is an attempt to place together in one volume terms that are used in agrometeorology. It is based on earlier versions, separate for each of the English, French and Spanish languages, prepared by the WMO Secretariat, in collaboration with FAO and Unesco, translated by Mrs. Raisa M. Ruiz C. into Spanish and by Mr. C. Samie and Mr. N. Gerbier into French. Comments on the preliminary version from agrometeorologists, agriculturalists, national and international agricultural organizations, and research Institutes, have been taken into account in the preparation of this version of the trilingual Glossary. It is hoped that this publication will promote the further collaboration and understanding among specialists.
