This standard defines the Common Access Method - 3 (CAM-3) for the control of devices. The purpose of this standard is to define a method whereby multiple environments may adopt a common procedure for the support of devices. The CAM-3 provides a structured method for supporting peripherals with the software (e.g., peripheral driver) and hardware (e.g., host adapter) associated with any computer.
