This standard defines the SCS-3 Interlocked Protocol (SIP). The role of SIP is to supply a mapping of the SCSI-3 command sets to the SCSI parallel bus as defined in the SCSI-3 Parallel Interface (SPI) document. SIP is closely derived from the protocol portions of the SCSI-2 standard. SIP is intended to be a fully compliant expression of the SCSI-3 Architecture Model (SAM).
