MISSION TO VENUS Mariner II was launched from Cape Canaveral on August 27, 1962. Almost four months later, it radioed back to Earth, over a distance of 36,000,000 miles, the results of its examination of Venus. The entire story of Mariner II is told here by the staff of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which had technical direction of the experiment. They recreated the fascination and excitement of this great adventure.
