He was the leading scholar at Nalanda, the Buddhist monastic university when he embarked upon the arduous and lonely path to enlightenment. Trungpa's book is a commentary on Naropa's teachings and shows the relevance of Naropa's journey to today's practitioners who seek to follow the spiritual path. About the Author Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche (1940–1987)—meditation master, teacher, and artist—founded Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, the first Buddhist-inspired university in North America; the Shambhala Training program; and an international association of meditation centers known as Shambhala International.
