Hanyu Fangyan Da Cidian(1999) The Great Dictionary of Chinese Dialects(1999) 中国語方言大辞典（1999） ISBN 10: 7101008178 / ISBN 13: 9787101008173 本书是复旦大学和日本京都外国语大学进行科研合作的一项成果，编纂工作始于1986年，讫于1991年，历时五年，共收录古今南北汉语方言词汇20万余字，字数1500余万，是规模宏大，迄今国内外第一部通贯古今南北的大型方言工具书，有初步汇集、整理、积累古今汉语方言资料之功，对方言学、民俗文化学以及地方文学、戏曲等领域的研究不无裨益。 用汉字记录方言，有用本字记录的，有用俗字记录的，有用同音学记录的，而所用本字不尽一致，俗字和同音字也往往很多。引用的文献例证有部分为第二手资料，未及核查原著……最后说到本词典的用途。首先当然是查考方言词语。其次，就语言工作者而言，本词典提供古今四方的语料，取精用弘，在乎读者，是为序。（李荣先生序） This compilation of the dictionary took five years, from 1986 to 1991, and included more than 200,000 dialect words in its vocabulary as well as more than 15 million words overall.
