This publication, as the first of its kind in Yugoslavia, aims to give a brief overview of the development of the network of meteorological stations on the Velebit mountain massif (in modern-day Croatia), as well as a programme for the creation and development of the main meteorological station, Zavizan (1594 m), which has been measuring and measuring climatological elements since 1 November 1953. The programme of the station's work has not been confined to the work of many low-lying stations, but has been extended to a greater extent to special investigations, which have also found application in many other countries of the world. The results of the research on the problem of measuring the water level in mountain forests and the special measurements in order to establish the water level in the Senj hydroelectric powerstation's lakes clearly show that the resources and efforts invested have been exhaustively carried out.
