In this report geolythological and geomechanical characters of the Flysch in the Trieste area are described, in order to supply concepts which could be useful to people working on constructions in this geological Formation. For this reason a simple practical classification of various «types» Of Flysch is proposed. After a discussion about the Flysch as a << rock system ››, the results of surface degradation on this Formation, some considerations about the important problem of recognizing the recent and ancient filling soils which are rather usual in the Trieste area are reported. Finally some real examples are schematically outlined in order to explain the problems and disadvantages that very often occur working on the most superficial parts of the Flysch.
